The Honorable member representing Etsako Federal Constituency in the house of representatives, Hon Anamero DANCO yesterday embarked on the spot assessment of the now unmotorable road at Ayogwiri, Auchi, Afashio, South Ibie, Ikabigbo and others in Etsako federal constituency of Edo state.
In Ayogwiri, the road has both economic, administrative, agricultural and several values for the users which connect three local governmen- Etsako West, Etsako Central and Etsako East respectively. The road was affected by the ravaging gully erosion which was unattended to by the Edo state government led by Governor Godwin Obaseki despite the outcry by the Ayogwiri people and other commuters who plied the road to their various destinations until it totally became unmotorable.
While assuring the people of expedited action by the government, Hon. Anamero Sunday Dekeri said “the purpose of my visit to the site today is to enable me have on the spot assessment of damage caused so far by the gully menace and to sympathize with the road users who are now conditionally deprived of accessing their homes and families, noting that he had previously set a team of ecological management to the spot and other locations in a bid to addressing the problems.
Also visited by Hon. anamero and his entourage was Auchi at Tipper road, Afashio, Ikabigbo, South Ibie, Jattu near Moore boulevard hotel where the gully has submerged a number of dwelling houses as well as several properties, arable lands, etc having economic and commercial and agricultural values.
He therefore called on the federal government’s National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, Federal Road Maintenance Agency FERMA, the Edo state Ministry of Work, the three Local Government councils in Etsako to expedite swift actions to commence the repairs so as to reunite families, reconnect businesses, etc while stressing that he will report back to his boss in the upper Chamber, Comrade Senator Adams Oshiomhole.
On his part, the Hon member representing state constituency 2, Hon Gani Akokhia lamented the present situation stressing that the deteriorating state of the road has left his constituents who are largely farmers now helpless and therefore in need of government attention. “Through my efforts alongside other members of the Edo state house of assembly in Etsako have raised this matter on the floor of the house which the speaker, Rt Hon Blessing Agbebaku conveyed to the appropriate authorities for further action but up till now, there’s nothing to show on ground. I’m perplexed, added.
Others who also spoke at the gully scenes were the community leaders who thanked Hon. Anamero for coming to sympathize with his people.
